Whiteford Wins 80th District With Staggering Support

Community Involvement and Conservative Principles

Put Whiteford Over the Top

Allegan County – Tonight, Republican Mary Whiteford won the 80th District election for the Michigan House of Representatives outgaining her opponents by a margin of 63.75% for Whiteford to 29% for her Democrat opponent and 6% for her Libertarian opponent – with a total vote count of 10,287 of the 16,136 votes cast with 66.7% of the precincts reporting.

Whiteford, a Republican from Casco Township, congratulated her opponents on a spirited campaign and thanked her volunteers and supporters for all their help.

Whiteford said, “I am deeply humbled and thankful for the support everyone has given me over the last 7 months. The responsibility of representing Allegan County in Lansing is something I take very seriously and look forward to working hard on their behalf.”

Whiteford continued, “I am eager to get to work in Lansing. I can’t wait to get started so Allegan County residents know they’ll have a credible conservative voice in Lansing working for them.”

Whiteford secured the Republican nomination for the 80th House District besting Cindy Gamrat, Jim Storey and 5 other candidates with 51% of the vote in an 8 person primary.

“All along I’ve said that working hard to attend meetings all across the district, listening to the leaders of all our local government and civic organizations and making sure they know their voices will be heard in Lansing was a key part to our success. I was attending meetings and working with leaders even when I wasn’t running for office so doing this is second nature to me,” Whiteford said.

Whiteford concluded, “I look forward to meeting my colleagues in Lansing and serving Allegan County. Within the next week, everyone in Allegan County should know we’ll be up and running and ready to help them in any way we can.”

Mary Whiteford is a small business owner, pediatric emergency nurse, volunteers a great deal in the community, mother and grandmother. She operates a financial planning firm with her husband, Kevin.

Whiteford lives in Casco Township with her husband Kevin. They have three adult children and one grandchild.
